We are looking for a highly motivated engineer with experience in delivering scalable and resilient backend systems who is interested in becoming knowledgeable in the TLS and domain registry spaces. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead projects from idea to delivery, collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers, provide operational support, and grow/adapt our systems to meet the business's and our customers' needs.
What You'll Do:
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain applications that involve Fastly's customer-facing TLS and domain-related products
- Take ownership of features from start to finish, facilitate reviews and discussion with peers and partners, and ensure features delivered meet product requirements
- Work in close partnership with your engineering leaders to build out and execute on everything from project design to engineering standards
- Clearly communicate upward and outward to set and adjust expectations with your manager and partners
- Collaborate with your teammates and other engineers across the organization especially through code and design reviews
- Participate in on-call rotation
What We're Looking For:
- At least 5 years of professional experiencing developing software in a distributed environment
- Significant experience developing backend features with Go - Interview will include a coding exercise using golang.
- Experience building and maintaining reliable, robust, and performant software in a cloud environment that is scalable, testable, and supportable
- Able to implement reasonably well defined projects with minimal guidance
- Eager to learn new domains and share what you've learned with others
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce quality documentation
- A great teammate: communicative, collaborative, empathetic
- Experience working with teams distributed across different time zones
We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
- Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes/Docker, etc.
- Experience working with metric collection systems such as Prometheus, etc.
- Familiarity or experience with TLS, mTLS, and Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME)
- Familiarity or experience with Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP) and interacting with domain registries
Work Hours:
- This position will require you to be available during core business hours and occasional nights and weekends as needed in the on-call rotation.
Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements:
This position is open to both hybrid and remote work locations in the US.
The preferred hybrid locations for this position are:
- New York, NY
- London, UK
Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.
We are also willing to consider remote candidates in the United States only.
This position will require minimal travel as required by your role or requested by your manager, typically to office locations.

Salary:
The estimated base salary range for this position if hired in the US is $167,790 to $209,740.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.
