Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.
To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a specific candidate. We want someone passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback.
Our work culture is intense. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.
Platform Product Group engineers build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase.
Job Duties:
- Architect, design, deploy, document and manage cloud-based network infrastructure, including all ingress and egress (internal and external).
- Implement customer-focused abstractions to simplify and standardize cloud services, topologies, and implementations.
- Code IP tables and software defined networking.
- Lead and defend technical decisions, providing design justification, coordination, and identifying value and requirements for other teams.
- Learn and foster an understanding of long-term infrastructure needs.
- Communicate to gather requirements, evangelize cloud offerings, and understand gaps/improvements.
- Produce professional documentation and diagrams to communicate concepts and architectures.
- Manage and assist in the resolution of complicated technical problems/incidents.
- Support and maintain current infrastructure offerings to maintain high service/availability.
- Develop strong relationships with Infrastructure, Security, IT, business partners, stakeholders, and vendors.
- Keep up to date with current developments and best practices within the domain and make forward-looking recommendations.
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years network engineering experience in industry
- Built systems on public cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Proficiency in a modern tech stack (Ruby, Go, gRPC, Protobuf)
- Proficiency with low-level primitives (IP converged networks, AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, IAM).
- Understanding of high-quality code and software engineering processes.
- Exhibit core values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, efficient execution.
- Flexibility to adapt and pivot in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to set priorities and balance multiple deadlines.
Nice to Haves:
- Crypto-forward experience (familiarity with onchain activity like Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps).
