Full-Time Senior Software Engineer (Python, API)

NBCUniversal is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of innovative systems.

As a key member of the Availability team, you'll build enterprise solutions aggregating data from diverse systems. This role involves collaboration with IT and business teams, allowing direct contribution to cutting-edge technology initiatives.

1. Serve as the technical lead, guiding full-stack solution development, focusing on API integration and data aggregation.
2. Lead design and implementation of APIs aggregating data from multiple external sources, delivering seamless, scalable integrations.
3. Develop clean, maintainable, and scalable code on both front-end and back-end, following best practices and modern design patterns.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions aligning with system architecture.
5. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, leveraging strong interpersonal skills to navigate system complexities and deploy solutions efficiently.
6. Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle, from design and development to testing, deployment, and production support.
7. Drive innovation and improve engineering processes through code reviews, mentorship, and technical leadership.
8. Understand business needs & design quality software solutions.
9. Ensure quality & confidence in software by writing effective automated unit tests.
10. Experience: 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience, focusing on API development and integration.
11. Proficiency in Python, C#, or similar high-level server-side languages.
12. Proficient in JavaScript, TypeScript & relevant JavaScript design patterns, with experience in either Angular and/or React.
13. Familiarity with serverless services (AWS Lambda or Azure Functions).
14. Knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization technologies, and API security best practices.
15. Ability to decide when to use relational vs. NoSQL databases and experience with at least one relational database (Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
16. Proven experience leading technical teams and delivering full-stack solutions, particularly in data-driven applications.
17. Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
18. Proven experience building APIs to aggregate and process data from multiple sources.
19. Experience in building scalable, high-performance distributed systems.
20. Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployment strategies, and API monitoring/maintenance.
21. Leadership skills, including mentoring junior developers and guiding teams through technical challenges.
