Full-Time Senior Staff Bioinformatics Scientist

About the Role: At Guardant Health, we aim to improve patient health through innovative oncology technology. As a leader in liquid biopsy, we seek a bioinformatics scientist to conduct research and early development, driving breakthroughs in cancer care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Investigate data, integrating statistical/visualization techniques and biological knowledge to understand large-scale genomic/epigenomic NGS data.
• Design, prototype, and analyze novel statistical/machine learning models.
• Develop reproducible analyses for research and development.
• Document and specify analyses.
• Collaborate on assay performance assessment & improvement.
• Lead collaborative teams to advance early research projects.
• Communicate analysis results to stakeholders and cross-disciplinary leadership to inform product strategy.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, statistics, or related fields.
• 2+ years industry/academia experience.
• Strong background in probability, statistics, and inference.
• Proven ability to develop and implement novel algorithms used in clinically and analytically validated settings.
• Experience with genomic/epigenomic NGS data analysis and cancer genomics.
• Ability to design analyses in data-limited contexts.
• Expertise in Python and statistical/ML/AI/data visualization packages.
• Proficiency with Linux command-line and version control tools (git).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience analyzing external datasets (e.g., TCGA, ENCODE) is a plus.

Compensation: US base salary range: $163,200 - $224,400 (Palo Alto, CA: $192,000 - $264,000). Range does not include benefits.
