About the Role: Guardant Health is seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to contribute to the vision of cancer care through liquid biopsies. Focus on early cancer screening, minimal residual disease detection, and therapy monitoring.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investigate data integrating statistical and visualization techniques and biological knowledge.
- Design, prototype, and analyze performance of novel statistical/machine learning models.
- Develop reproducible analyses for research and development activities.
- Collaborate closely with Technology Development scientists on designing experiments to assess and improve assay performance.
- Communicate analysis results to stakeholders across computational and experimental teams.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, statistics, computer science, machine learning, or related fields
- 12+ years experience in industry/academia post-graduation
- Strong background in probability and statistics
- Extensive experience with analysis of genomic and/or epigenomic NGS data
- Expertise in python and associated statistics/ML/AI/data visualization packages
- Proficiency with Linux command-line and version control tools (git and GitHub)
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience analyzing external genomic/epigenomic datasets (e.g. TCGA, ENCODE)
- Familiarity with high-performance computing infrastructures (e.g., SGE, Spark)
- Experience leveraging AWS-based services (e.g., EC2, S3)
- Proficiency in C++
Hybrid work arrangement: onsite Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for employees within 50 miles of a Guardant facility.
