Job Details
As a Senior Staff Hardware Architect – Shared Storage, you will directly report to the Senior Manager of Hardware Architecture, working on projects that shape the hardware underpinning ServiceNow’s global cloud, with a focus on shared storage systems.
The systems you select, design, and grow will help ServiceNow continue to grow to new heights, and to evolve with emerging technologies and customer requirements. This will be a highly collaborative role, contributing to a number of critical projects across the ServiceNow datacenter landscape.
What you get to do in this role:
- Drive hardware enhancements from original concept through final implementation across all system architectures and assess impact to performance and capacity.
- Evaluate and test new products, frequently prior to general availability, identifying root cause issues through testing and making sound recommendations to resolve issues.
- Work closely with operational storage teams and other internal stakeholders to understand requirements and scope solutions.
- Identify novel technologies and architectures - and benchmark potential changes to prove your theories.
- Effectively communicate the value of new and emerging platforms to the ServiceNow organization, internally.
- Serve as top-tier escalation for complex hardware issues.
To be successful in this role you have:
- Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI’s potential impact on the function or industry.
- Production experience with block-based shared storage systems.
- Production experience with NFS, CIFS, or other file storage protocols.
- Working experience with object-based storage protocols (S3, etc.)
- Working experience with FC/FCoE zoning and its related disciplines and terminologies.
- Working experience with datacenter networks.
- Familiarity with the product lines of at least 3 major current shared enterprise storage vendors (Dell/EMC, Pure Storage, NetApp, etc)
- Familiarity with cluster networking protocols/hardware (InfiniBand, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead complex projects.
- Excellent communication & customer skills, conflict management, and interpersonal skills.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of shared storage architecture design and implementation experience in production environments.
- 10+ years profiling and evaluating performance of Linux servers in production environments.
- 5+ years of production experience with NVMe-oF, FC, FCoE, iSCSI, or other block storage protocols.
For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $187,600 - $328,300, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits.
