Full-Time Senior/Staff Full-Stack Engineer

Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior/Staff Full-Stack Engineer to join our SaaS/Platform team. The LocalStack Platform provides a Web application and APIs that complement the functionality in the core emulator - enabling software teams to maximise their productivity with local cloud development. It plays a crucial role in supporting dev teams across the software development lifecycle - from collaboration features around storing and sharing the state of LocalStack instances (called Cloud Pods), to detailed telemetry and debugging tools for your CI builds (Stack Insights), to spinning up application previews in a hosted ephemeral LocalStack instance (Cloud Sandboxes). As our global user base of enterprise customers is growing, there is an increasing demand for new product features, as well as the need to provide the best performance and stability for our critical infrastructure.

In this role, you will implement cutting-edge new features in the platform and lead projects from conception to delivery, leveraging your expertise in Python and Typescript/React to expand the SaaS and Platform part of our product offering, empowering customers to make full use of our core LocalStack emulators by building professional tooling around it. You will also be responsible for building out and spearheading operational excellence and user experience of our platform (including the Web App and Desktop App), ensuring that our customers have a professional, delightful, and reliable experience.

As a key member of the team, you will initiate and lead projects, define customer needs, shape the technical design and architecture, and drive the development of solutions end-to-end. You have a passion for creating exceptional developer experiences and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cloud development at LocalStack.

 Responsibilities

• Implement cutting-edge functionality in the LocalStack platform and Web user interface, enabling and optimising cloud development workflows for thousands of developers working with the product on a daily basis.
• Lead projects from idea to delivery, ensuring high-quality results for our customers and empowering them to get their own development work done effectively.
• Develop and expand our SaaS offerings, including the LocalStack Web and Desktop apps, in order to empower our customers to use LocalStack as part of their team and enterprise development flows.
• Ensure operational excellence of our SaaS service, making it professional, reliable, and highly available through best practices in software and systems design and incident response.
• Initiate and drive projects independently by clarifying ambiguity, understanding customer needs, and delivering elegant solutions to those needs.
• Drive the development of tooling and cloud-based solutions to enhance the developer experience for all our customers, making local cloud development easy and intuitive.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams working on our core emulators to deliver fully integrated solutions to our customers to empower them to get their best work done quickly and easily.
• Run internal demos and knowledge sharing sessions to educate the team on the developments in the SaaS, developer tooling, and local cloud development space.
• Communicate directly with our customers in different support channels to understand their requirements and use cases, create reproducible samples, and help them resolve any technical issues.

Experience and Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading projects and teams in software development, owning not only the implementation but also the clarification, scoping, and breakdown of product solutions.
• Ideally have strong proficiency and experience in Python and TypeScript (ideally React) for building full-stack SaaS applications in the cloud.
• Experience building and running software solutions in the cloud, preferably on AWS, and experience with operational excellence and incident response best practices.
• Ability to work independently, drive projects, lead and mentor junior team members, and clarify ambiguity to discover and define customer needs.
• Passion for developer tooling, developer experience, and cloud development.
• Ideally experience with data platforms and analytics tools to embed user feedback mechanisms and enable data-driven product decisions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Prior experience contributing to open source projects on Github is a plus.
