About Tinybird: We help developers and data teams leverage real-time data for building data pipelines and innovative data products. Easily ingest multiple data sources, query data using SQL, and publish results as low-latency APIs. Developers can create fast APIs, boosting productivity.
What you will be doing: We need a Site Reliability Engineer to help scale our software and infrastructure. Someone who understands hardware and software interactions, participates in on-call support, and comprehends product and client issues.
Technologies:
- Linux
- OpenResty (SSL termination and load balancing)
- Varnish (load balancing and caching)
- Redis (metadata store)
- Python (backend)
- C++ (some backend hot paths)
- ClickHouse (main data store)
- Zookeeper (ClickHouse replicas)
- Grafana, Loki, Mimir (monitoring and alerting)
- Terraform (cloud provisioning)
- Ansible (deployment and configuration)
Responsibilities: Not just infrastructure management, but ensuring efficient resource utilization. Collaborate with product teams, design system architecture, and understand backend code (particularly ClickHouse).
Challenges: High availability and elasticity, observability, disaster recovery. Automate customer account upgrades (dynamic resource provisioning).
Skills required:
- Experience designing, building, and running distributed cloud architectures and large-scale web applications.
- Proficiency in programming (Python, C++), and willingness to learn other technologies.
- Accountability, enthusiasm, and ability to troubleshoot and fix issues.
- System-level thinking, attention to edge cases, and knowledge of failure modes.
- Strong communication skills (both asynchronous and synchronous).
- Empathy for users, resulting in intuitive and maintainable software.
Experience with: OpenResty, Varnish, Redis, Terraform, Ansible, ClickHouse is a plus.
Compensation: €62,000 - €109,000 per year (plus stock options).
