Full-Time Site Reliability Engineer (SRE/ DevOps)

Who You'll Work WithArista Networks is seeking a skilled professional for our Engineering Productivity (EngProd) team to support our growing infrastructure and internal users.

What You'll Do

• Build, deploy, and operate critical production systems focusing on scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and security.
• Monitor, support, and enhance the developer experience.
• Build automation to streamline production system operations.
• Proactively monitor alerts and automate alert handling.
• Create and maintain incident response runbooks.
• Build and deploy systems with scalability, reliability, and observability as key requirements.
• Troubleshoot platform/infrastructural issues, assisting Arista software engineers.
• Engage with 3rd party vendor support.
• Deploy new systems incrementally.
• Document postmortems and prevent incident recurrence.
• Plan and communicate maintenance windows.
• Collaborate with product development teams to identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks.
• Adopt best practices for secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems.
• Implement solutions to scale systems.
• Implement fault-tolerance and performance improvements for increased system availability.
• Study OSS systems for better triage and resolution.

Essential Skills

• At least BSc Computer Science/Engineering + 5 years experience, or MS Computer Science/Engineering + 5 years experience, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or shell scripting for automation.
• Strong Linux (or UNIX) administration and debugging skills.
• Hands-on experience operating software systems (infrastructure, complex applications) at scale.
• Experience in server provisioning (storage and networking).
• Strong problem-solving and software troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with databases (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with Docker and virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU, Kata Containers).
• Experience with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, InfluxDB, Grafana, Thanos).
• Experience with ElasticSearch clusters.
• Experience with Artifactory, Docker registries, CI/CD systems (ArgoCD, Spinnaker), version control systems (Perforce, Gerrit), infrastructure-as-code frameworks (Ansible), large Java applications, and storage infrastructure (NAS, SAN, Ceph).
