The role

We’re looking for Software Engineers with a ‘product builder’ mind-set to join our team and take a pivotal role in the development and guidance of our product. As a ‘T-shaped’ engineer, you will bring a broad practical knowledge across various areas of software development, complementing and supporting our growing team whilst having a deeper specialism in backend. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your existing skills, experience, and knowledge to significantly influence the trajectory of our product as we aim to revolutionize research.

This team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a world-class enterprise payment platform that supports the ever-evolving needs of our rapidly growing business. Our mission is to create seamless, scalable, and reliable solutions that enable secure and efficient transactions at a massive scale!

What you’ll be doing in the role 

• Team Collaboration: Work as part of a cross-functional, stream-aligned team, collaborating with the engineering manager, product manager, designer, tech lead, and fellow engineers.
• Agile Practices: Use agile software development and a product mindset to plan, build, and support software that delivers value to customers.
• Customer Focus: Partner with teams outside of product engineering and work closely with customers to understand their needs.
• Cloud Expertise: Confidently work across major cloud providers, including AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Ownership & Operations: Embrace a 'You Build It, You Run It' mindset, maintaining ownership from code commit to production while striving for system stability and observability.
• Growth Mindset: Champion engineering principles and actively improve the engineering culture.

What you’ll bring to the role

• Technical Expertise: Proficient in Python (or similar), TypeScript/JavaScript, and NoSQL Databases. Event-Driven Architectures, AWS (Serverless) and /orGCP.
• Quality & Observability: Strong advocate for test automation and maintaining high-quality code. Experience supporting production systems with a focus on observability (e.g., RUM, tracing).
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Skilled in working within teams with strong engineering practices, sharing knowledge, and fostering collective excellence.
• Customer & Product Focus: Committed to delivering customer-centric solutions and caring about the entire product lifecycle.
• Continuous Improvement: Passionate about iterative development, using data and feedback to drive enhancements in processes and outcomes.
• Learning & Adaptability: Dedicated to self-improvement and staying current with the latest trends in software development.
• Advantageous: Experience building billing or payment platforms.
