Sr Consultant Level Engineer's main focus is to ensure all implementations follow the best possible solution, scalable indefinitely, with no integrity problems.
- Ensure systems can scale indefinitely and have no integrity problems.
- Apply staff engineering guidelines and standards to current systems.
- Help other software engineers with implementations.
- Identify potential flaws in current systems.
- Often participate in cross-squad implementations.
- Lead architectural system designs for complex systems.
- Understand multiple work streams, offering technical advice and support while maintaining velocity.
- Demonstrate strong product awareness.
- Understand product-market fit, working closely with product leadership for right decisions.
- Challenge teams for greater urgency on company priorities, leading when required.
- Propose engineering strategies and secure buy-in.
Remote Position: Remote position doesn't require proximity to a Visa office, but may require occasional presence.
Basic Qualifications: 8+ years experience with Bachelor's, or 5+ years with advanced degree, or 2+ years with PhD.
Preferred Qualifications: 9+ years experience with Bachelor's, or 7+ years with advanced degree, or 3+ years with PhD.
Location Requirement: Must live in the U.S.
Skills Required: Experience with backend languages, cloud, event-driven, distributed systems, race conditions, distributed transactions, and observability/metrics.
Desirable Skills: Experience with OpenAPI, Load Testing, Terraform, DevOps, Financial Experience.
Work Hours: Varies.
Travel Requirements: 5-10%.

Salary Range (U.S. Applicants Only): $127,300 - $230,900 per year, plus potential sales incentives. Salary may vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
