Full-Time Software Engineer, Storage

Neon is an open-source company building a cloud-native Postgres database service. We seek a skilled Systems Software Engineer for our Storage Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Work on Neon storage services in Rust, scaling for millions of databases and terabytes of data.
• Optimize throughput and latency for PostgreSQL clients.
• Operate a global fleet of storage servers with high reliability.
• Implement features and participate in design.
• Improve code quality, write testable, and correct systems code.
• Participate in on-call rotation and operational excellence.

Requirements:

• At least 4 years of production software engineering experience.
• Experience building high-scale systems with strong focus on correctness.
• Experience maintaining and developing large codebases.
• Passion for systems software, performance engineering, and distributed systems.
• Passion for a fast-paced, early-stage startup.
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and pride.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with Rust or modern C++ (interest in learning Rust).
• Experience with open-source projects and public development.
