Job Details
Job Responsibilities:
- Drafting, negotiating, and supporting the implementation of contracts and amendments related to California ISO markets, services, operations, and interconnections.
- Providing subject matter expertise for ISO Tariff amendments and implementation.
- Managing interactions with various stakeholders (generators, regulatory commissions).
- Collaborating with and leading cross-functional teams.
- Acting as subject matter expert in specific service areas.
- Demonstrating technical, commercial, and regulatory expertise.
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Developing creative approaches to address specific utility or market participant circumstances.
- Drafting, reviewing, and providing subject matter expertise on FERC filings.
- Providing direction to other ISO departments.
- Providing subject matter expertise and guidance on ISO policies and procedures.
- Preparing and presenting reports to ISO management and stakeholders.
- Facilitating and participating in projects supporting ISO strategies.
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of related experience in the electric utility industry, including engineering, legal, or business aspects.
- Experience with ISO markets, scheduling, operations, contracts, or ISO Tariff provisions.
- Significant subject matter expertise in the generator interconnection process.
- Understanding of transmission upgrade categories and complex interconnection scenarios.
- Experience evaluating FERC regulations.
- Understanding of the transmission planning process.
- Experience with ISO market scheduling, dispatch, and settlements processes (preferred).
- Experience implementing new contracts and tariff provisions.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams in complex negotiations.
- Detailed knowledge of ISO Tariff and ISO contracts.
Skills and Abilities:
- Effective teamwork, analytical and communication skills (verbal, written, documentation).
- Attention to detail, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Self-starting, independent work, ability to work under pressure.
