Overview: Advanced position for technical writers with proven writing abilities. A Senior Technical Writer produces user-friendly documentation for healthcare providers, patients, administrators, and practice staff. The role includes leading teams and managing projects.
Responsibilities:
- Fully understands the product delivery life cycle and monitors documentation progress.
- Plans, writes, and performs development tasks for complex documentation with high quality.
- Develops guides for end users and administrators (feature guides, configuration guides, integration guides, interface documentation, release notes).
- Applies standards and styles to documentation, including copyrights and trademarks.
- Develops and documents application process workflows.
- Has an intricate understanding of product features and their relationship to other applications.
- Uses issue tracking systems, monitors defect tracking, and responds promptly to issues.
- Gathers information through research, interviews, testing, and meetings to develop accurate documentation.
- Facilitates documentation walkthrough meetings with stakeholders.
- Participates in Technical Publication team committees and task forces.
- Mentors and trains less experienced writers.
- Follows best practices for documentation user experience and quality assurance.
- Prepares special reports and knowledge shares.
- Shows leadership skills as a Team Lead, project lead, or recognized resource.
- Keeps the release coordinator informed of progress (or manages projects to completion).
Qualifications: BA/BS or MA/MS degree in relevant fields (Technical Communication, English, Journalism, etc.) or equivalent experience. Technical Communication certification preferred. Continuing education in technical communication, software languages, and healthcare software data. 6-10 years of technical writing experience, preferably in Healthcare. Understanding of US healthcare vocabulary and regulations (HIPAA, HHS, CMS, etc.). Experience with enterprise-level content management systems and version control. Proficiency in structured authoring tools (oXygen, XML, DITA). Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management skills. Adaptable communication skills for diverse audiences. Ability to identify potential issues/risks and seek solutions.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel.
Working Arrangements: Remote role.
Salary Range: $74,598 - $88,026 USD.
