Job Details
Gather data from various sources (maps, satellite images) for specific regions to ensure comprehensive information.
Investigate data sources (free/paid), assessing coverage, recency, and quality for target areas.
Use specialized tools (GDAL, custom software) to clean, resize, and align data for team use.
Collaborate with different teams:
- AI/ML: Supply diverse data for model building.
- Pipeline/Product: Ensure necessary data for new region deployments.
Responsibilities:
- Aggregate data for target regions ensuring complete data collection.
- Research open, public, and commercial sensor data sources to determine areas, quality, and freshness of available data.
- Utilize open-source (GDAL) and internal tools to preprocess, align, crop, resample data.
- Contribute to internal tools for processing geospatial datasets.
- Partner with teams to understand GIS data needs for AI/ML research.
- Coordinate with AI/ML and Pipeline/Product teams for data provision.
- Partner with leadership to understand product vision.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with GIS modalities (orthoimagery, LiDAR, vector data, elevation/terrain information, landcover).
- Basic scripting (Python) for automation and tool contribution.
- Experience with open-source GIS libraries (PROJ, GDAL).
- Experience with some flavor of Linux and Unix shell (bash).

Salary Range: $125,000 - $155,000 (bonus eligible).
