RoleWe are seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to build a top-tier ML ecosystem for clinical AI advancements.
The ideal candidate excels in cross-disciplinary collaboration, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes with a strong focus on reliable systems and developer experience.
SmarterDx develops clinical AI empowering hospitals to analyze comprehensive patient records for maximized value. Founded by physicians, our proprietary platform understands clinical reasoning, enabling revenue recovery, enhanced care quality, and optimized operations.
What You'll Do
- Craft, implement, and maintain MLOps tools (CI/CD, monitoring).
- Optimize model performance and scalability for high reliability.
- Develop tools to improve data scientist workflows.
- Contribute to ML system design and architecture.
What You Bring
- 10+ years ML/MLOps development experience.
- Strong Python/SQL proficiency, experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow.
- Production ML model deployment and management experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
- CI/CD best practices, automated testing/deployment.
- Cloud platform (AWS) and ML services knowledge.
- Experience leading small teams via modern agile methodologies.
- Experience influencing cross-disciplinary teams to adopt best practices.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform) and configuration management tools.
- Strong data engineering/architecture understanding.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, problem-solving focus.
Nice To Haves
- Startup founding experience or first engineering hire.
- Health tech domain experience (hospital billing).
- End-to-end ML project lifecycle experience (data to deployment).
- LLM production deployment experience.
- Open-source contributions or ML community involvement.

Compensation$220-270k base + equity incentives
