Systems EngineerThis is a contract opportunity.This is an onsite opportunity located in Fremont, CA.
About this PositionWe are seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join a dynamic team in Austin, TX, or Fremont, CA. This role involves applying the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to design, develop, test, and evaluate software and systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of systems, troubleshooting issues, and providing on-call support as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Modify existing databases and database management systems, or guide programmers and analysts in making changes.
- Design logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers for the database management system.
- Collaborate with project teams to coordinate database development, define project scope, and set limitations.
- Review project requests describing user needs to estimate time and cost for successful project completion.
- Troubleshoot issues and make necessary system changes to resolve problems.
- Work with tools like Python, Bash, SCCM, and Chef to manage deployments and resolve conflicts in a complex environment.
- Maintain systems, configure applications, and update project artifacts regularly.
- Be the go-to person for ensuring the operational efficiency of systems, with minimal supervision.
Job Skills/Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and Bash scripting.
- Solid understanding of systems troubleshooting, database management, and deploying applications at scale.
- Knowledge of SCCM, Chef, and how to deploy applications in a cascading environment.
- 70% experience with Windows, 30% experience with Linux.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and concise reporting.
- Ability to handle on-call requests and internal alerts promptly.
- Knowledge of computer development software across multiple platforms.
- Experience in providing constructive feedback and mentoring others.
