Systems Reliability Engineer (SRE) - Contract Opportunity - Hybrid role (3 days onsite per week) in New York, NY.
Join a growing SRE team within a global financial services leader’s Production Engineering organization.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable systems.
- Troubleshoot across the full technology stack (hardware, software, application, and network).
- Identify opportunities and implement automation to improve system management and visibility.
- Provide production support services and participate in an on-call rotation (2x per month, including weekends/holidays).
- Represent the engineering team in design reviews and operational readiness exercises.
Skills/Requirements:
- Proficiency with Linux system administration.
- Strong experience in database scripting, performance tuning, and monitoring (Sybase, DB2, Greenplum).
- Working knowledge of Python, Perl, or Shell scripting.
- Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills for metrics, trends, and reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for global teams.
- Flexibility for on-call rotations and hybrid work (3 days/week onsite).
Good to Have:
- Financial services or investment banking experience.
- Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, ElasticSearch).
- Knowledge of development tools like Git and Jenkins.
- Agile, DevOps, or SRE experience.
- Understanding of cloud technology.
Additional Information:
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days/week onsite.
- On-call rotation: 2x/month, including weekends/holidays.
- Contract-to-hire potential.
Pay Range: $65-$75/hour
