Job Details

Type: Full-time contractor (hours negotiable)

Important: This role is for someone working within European or African Timezones

OpenFn is a free and open source digital public good (DPG) used by lower- and middle-income country governments and NGOs around the world to scale the next generation of health and humanitarian interventions via data integration, interoperability, and process automation.

We use cutting edge technologies to drive efficiency where it matters most; we do not make marginal improvements to already comfortable lives.

The OpenFn iPaaS and the free and open-source OpenFn Integration Toolkit are built on the Phoenix Framework (Elixir/Erlang) and backed by a Javascript compiler/execution environment (running in NodeJs) with 50+ adaptors for working with the most commonly used and mission-critical software in the health and humanitarian sectors.

We are investing heavily in our open source offering, focusing on creating a best-in-class developer experience, increasing ease of use and offering better visibility for those creating “jobs”—the data transformation and process automation scripts that provide secure, stable, scalable interoperability for our LMIC government and NGO customers.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be the crucial link between inbound leads, registered new users and supporting those users becoming active, paying customers!

You will engage with users who have registered for our SaaS workflow automation application, guiding them through initial setup, troubleshooting technical challenges, demonstrating the value of our product, and ultimately converting free users into paying subscribers.

This is a hands-on, customer-focused role that requires a blend of technical expertise (REST APIs & javascript), sales acumen, and excellent communication skills.

Your mission will be to help the world's leading NGOs, government agencies, and their IT partners problem-solve using our workflow automation platform.

What you'll be doing

  1. Lead Engagement and Qualification: Proactively connect with inbound leads who have registered for our SaaS application, understanding their needs, use cases, and technical environment.
  2. Workflow Development and Onboarding: Work closely with users to build initial workflows within the application, ensuring they understand its core functionalities and can achieve their desired outcomes.
  3. Technical Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical assistance to users, diagnosing and resolving issues, and escalating complex problems to the appropriate internal teams.
  4. Value Demonstration and Product Expertise: Effectively showcase the value proposition of our SaaS application through product demonstrations and other interactive sessions. Highlight key features, benefits, and use cases relevant to each user's specific needs.
  5. Trial Conversion: Actively manage the free user lifecycle, proactively engaging with users to ensure they are active on the application and looking for opportunities to convert them into paid subscribers.
  6. Sales Outreach and Lead Generation: Conduct proactive outreach to potential customers, including engagement on community fora, cold calling, and emailing, to generate new leads and expand our customer base.
  7. Product Demonstrations: Deliver compelling and informative product demonstrations to prospective clients (solo or with other members of the leadership & sales teams), showcasing the application's capabilities and addressing their specific requirements.
  8. Feedback Collection and Product Improvement: Gather user feedback and relay it to the product development team to contribute to ongoing product improvements and enhancements.
  9. Sales Reporting and Tracking on Salesforce: Maintain accurate records of all interactions with users, track conversion rates, and provide regular reports on sales activities and progress.
  10. Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to ensure a seamless customer experience and achieve company revenue goals.
