Full-Time VP of Engineering

Soda is seeking a proven VP of Engineering to bolster our leadership team. You will collaborate with our leadership team, reporting directly to the CPO, and closely with the product team to accelerate the delivery of upcoming product features in Data Observability and Data Testing.

Your primary responsibility is leading the engineering team, ensuring high velocity and alignment between architectural decisions and the product roadmap, ultimately creating operational excellence.

You'll be actively involved in resolving critical engineering challenges and dedicate at least 50% of your time to hands-on implementation. You'll contribute to building a great product.

1. Ensure fast product delivery by structuring engineering work, establishing best practices, and refining processes.
2. Oversee architectural decisions to enable fast and reliable delivery in the coming years.
3. Resolve critical engineering problems hands-on, showcasing technical expertise and leadership.
4. Manage all engineers, make critical hiring decisions, and define recruitment needs.
5. Foster ownership and a proactive culture in the engineering team focused on product excellence.
6. Collaborate closely with the CPO and the product team to align with company vision and long-term growth.
7. Develop a deep understanding of the data quality space and customer challenges.
8. Cultivate strong relationships across engineering and the organization for transparent communication.

Technical Requirements

• Deep understanding of modern architectural design principles, including service architectures and multi-tenanted SaaS product development.
• Broad experience with API integrations and integrating with legacy systems quickly and without performance issues.
• Expertise in building robust, scalable B2B products and managing related requirements.
• Appreciation for UX and UI, focusing on user-centric and intuitive product design.
• Experience deploying machine learning systems.

Industry Experience

• Technical/engineering leadership building data-centric Software.
• Technical leadership of modern data infrastructures (data orchestration, data warehouses).
• International product deployment experience in venture-backed environments with strong entrepreneurial mindset.

Leadership Requirements

• Proven ability to lead highly technical engineering teams and define/execute a technology roadmap.
• Experience building, leading, and scaling engineering/development teams, ideally with remote/distributed teams.
• Experience designing feature-based autonomous engineering teams with integrated DevOps.
• Strong product engineering mindset and proven success collaborating with product managers, research teams, and designers.
• Expertise in implementing engineering processes and fostering engineering team development.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English for communicating technical vision, delivery strategy, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proven success in contributing to, establishing, and executing technical and engineering strategies at product and organizational levels.
• Strategic mindset combining short-, medium-, and long-term business direction.
• Experience working with Founders to deliver on product vision.
