Job Details
This position leads equipment and technology supply integrated projects. The Project Manager manages information flow between internal/external teams and clients. Frequent, efficient communication is key.
Responsibilities span from sale handoff to project execution, commissioning, and warranty expiration. Input is provided to the sales team during the tender phase.
Tasks include planning, communication, resource coordination, and promoting internal/external interfacing from project initiation to closeout. Projects range from equipment supply to limited scope design-build, $500,000 - $15,000,000.
- Review contract documents/specifications during the tender phase.
- Direct execution aspects: engineering, procurement, project controls, field construction (needed), commissioning, and start-up.
- Client communication: process, scope, and equipment.
- Project team communication: resources, deliverables, goals/objectives.
- Resource management: plan and manage project resources.
- Project budget management: maintain/improve margin, cost control, revenue forecasting, project invoicing for monthly reporting.
- Senior management reporting: quarterly project reviews.
- Key decision consultation: budget, scope, and schedule.
- Relationship building: maintain good relationships with customers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Supplier/customer interaction & negotiation.
- Task delegation: project needs and deadlines.
- Monthly reporting: status, cost vs. budget, % complete.
- Technical understanding: design, construction, operations of technologies/projects.
- Contract evaluation & interpretation.
- O&M preparation: submittals meeting contract specs.
- Engineering drawing reviews & approvals: PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, piping drawings, pipe supports, vendor submittals.
- Engineering design/calculations (as needed).
- Installation contractor management: bidding, tanks, mechanical.
- Veolia site construction manager interaction.
- Travel to project sites (as required).
Education Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in project engineering/management.
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Excellent written communication skills (emails, letters, reports, proposals).
- Experience assigning work to others.
- Regular project planning (individual and team).
- Experience in mechanical, structural, process, piping design of industrial plants/equipment.
- Experience in hydraulics design & engineering.
- Experience with project planning/scheduling/task management software (Microsoft Project, Asana, Smartsheet).
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Adobe Acrobat experience (PDF editing, commenting).
- Intimate knowledge of industrial equipment, vendor interactions, mechanical piping, I&C, contractor management, and general project execution engineering tasks.
- ERP system experience (purchasing, cost control, forecasting) is preferred.
