Azure IoT brings devices and cloud services together so you can collect data, run analytics, and control hardware from anywhere. It involves connecting sensors and devices, sending telemetry to cloud services, applying rules or machine learning to that data, and managing devices at scale. In simple terms, Azure IoT helps turn physical equipment into manageable, data-driven systems.

This skill is well suited to remote work because much of the development and operations happen in the cloud. You can design device twins, deploy edge modules, monitor device health, and respond to incidents without being on site. Remote teams can share dashboards, logs, and code repositories to troubleshoot devices and roll out updates from anywhere.

Practice with device simulators and hands-on labs to send telemetry, work with message protocols like MQTT, and build simple data pipelines. Study device security, provisioning, and lifecycle management, and try edge computing patterns for on-device logic. Build a small portfolio project that shows end-to-end flow from device to cloud to dashboard, and get comfortable with source control, automated deployment, and clear documentation for remote collaboration.
