Aviation Advisor Responsibilities:
The Aviation Advisor provides aviation safety advice, conducts operational and technical audits, and completes aviation projects for SGS Aviation Compliance clients.
Provides clients with advice based on regulatory requirements and best international practice, supported by professional in-hour peer review.
Works directly with client representatives on aviation matters, in accordance with SGS Compliance Aviation standards and procedures.
- Plans and conducts aviation audits, assessing operator safety for SGS Compliance Aviation Clients.
- Manages aviation projects for Clients.
- Provides technical and commercial aviation advice.
- Prepares written audit and project reports with recommendations for the conduct and continuous improvement of Client aviation activities.
- Follows up and resolves issues raised in the course of duties.
- Maintains professional contact and effective working relationships with Clients.
- Maintains professional qualifications through company training and participation in SGS Compliance Aviation Seminars.
- Discharges administrative duties required for efficient position conduct.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma
- 15+ years hands-on aircraft technology experience
- 15+ years Aviation experience
- Commercial Pilot Certificate
- Helicopter experience
- Oil, Gas, Mining industry experience
- Quality Assurance experience in the aviation industry, including experience relevant to SGS Compliance Aviation activities
- People management experience
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) - intermediate proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Management systems auditing experience at Lead Auditor level
- Aircraft Mechanic License
- Airline Transport Pilots License
- Advisor participation in the Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) auditing program must meet BARS Procedures Manual requirements.
- Flight Engineer License or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licenses or other professional Licenses.
- Valid Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) training certificate.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Language Skills: English - Advanced. Other languages beneficial.
- Mathematical Skills: Intermediate.
- Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate - Logical system approach to problem solving.
- Financial Management Knowledge: Required.
- Initiative to seek new solutions, focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and composition.
- Advanced presentation skills, and ability to interact effectively with senior government officials and senior management.
- High level of leadership skills.
