Scope: The BI Data Engineer will handle all aspects of BI application maintenance and future development, from project initiation to release management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and executing a comprehensive BI strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, user satisfaction, revenue, and key business metrics using data.
- Promote a data-driven culture by advocating for data-driven decision-making.
- Align business reporting across departments for consistency, accuracy, and a unified understanding of performance and goals.
- Collaborate with business units to understand data needs and requirements.
- Provide data-driven insights to executive leadership and relevant teams.
- Develop analytics and reporting capabilities; identify trends, patterns, and translate insights into meaningful visualizations and reports.
- Evaluate, select, and implement suitable BI tools and platforms, staying updated on industry best practices.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data quality, analytical methods, and business decisions.
- Establish data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, accuracy, security, and compliance.
- Oversee data integration, transformation, and maintenance processes for reliable and timely information.
- Keep abreast of new advancements in analytics, reporting, and data warehouses for existing and future tools.
- Achieve approved budgetary levels for the BI area (OPEX and CAPEX) as set by IT leadership.
- Deliver results with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years IT experience
- 4+ years SAP (HANA, BW, or Business Objects) development experience
- Experience managing SAP BW systems and creating BW data models
- Experience with BI systems and external system integration
- Data integration and extraction with SAP ECC modules (OTC, SD, APO, EWM, TM) and S/4HANA
- Knowledge of SAP Business Objects suite (BOBJ, Webi), SAP Analytics Cloud (preferred)
- Strong SQL skills (complex queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, indexing, query optimization, database tuning)
- Microsoft SQL Server and SSMS experience for database administration, development, and debugging
- Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) experience using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- SSRS and Excel Power Query proficiency for reporting
- Experience with Salesforce (a plus)
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Project leadership experience
- Excellent communication skills to all levels, including executive management
- Strong influence and cross-functional teamwork skills
Compensation: $129,000 - $159,000 annually (based on experience and other factors). Incentive programs available (target bonus 10%).
