Contractor BI Developer/ Analyst (Cognos /SPSS) P&C Insurance

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented BI Analyst / Developer with deep expertise in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance and hands-on experience in SPSS, Cognos, and Power BI. The primary responsibility of this role is to rationalize, catalog, and analyze existing SPSS and Cognos reports, extract actionable insights, and streamline reporting processes to enhance business decision-making.

• Conduct report rationalization by reviewing existing SPSS reports, identifying redundancies, and consolidating overlapping reports.
• Perform cataloging and categorization to create a structured inventory of analytical assets.
• Analyze SPSS reports to extract business insights relevant to underwriting, claims, and policy performance.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and align outputs with strategic goals.
• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI and Cognos.
• Translate complex insurance data into clear, actionable insights for business units.
• Document report logic, data sources, and business rules to support governance and reusability.
• Support data quality and governance initiatives by ensuring consistency and accuracy across reports.
• Automate and optimize reporting workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in BI/reporting roles within the insurance industry, preferably P&C.
• Strong hands-on experience with SPSS, Cognos, and Power BI.
• Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex insurance datasets.
• Experience in report rationalization and metadata management.
• Solid understanding of insurance operations including claims, underwriting, and policy lifecycle.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data modeling concepts.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
