ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Help manage Western Digital's online enforcement program in certain territories; monitor online marketplaces using third party monitoring tools; initiate and manage takedown requests and escalations; help manage relationships with online marketplaces. Manage test purchase programs.Assist in UDRP proceedings regarding infringing domain names.Analysis of data to identify counterfeiters/infringers and support criminal actions and civil cases.Authenticate products in support of brand protection activities; develop in depth knowledge and expertise for Western Digital products, packaging and pricing to support product authentication.Develop, gather and track evidence, manage evidence and evidence logs, and maintain records and dockets.Support criminal actions and civil cases for brand enforcement and warranty fraud.Stay up to date on industry trends in global brand protection and enforcement.Facilitate reporting on global brand protection and enforcement activities to business partners.Develop guidelines and conduct trainings for internal and external stakeholders about brand protection and intellectual property matters.Communicate with outside counsel, law enforcement and investigators on brand protection matters. Monitor cases, track progress, and report results of brand protection activities using internal and external digital tools.Domestic travel may be required.
REQUIRED:
- An undergraduate degree from a reputable university and comparable work experience.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience, preferably with technology products.
- Working familiarity with intellectual property law, including trademarks, copyrights, design patents, and utility patents.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point.
- Ability to initiate and manage brand protection initiatives.
- Ability to operate independently and demonstrate resourcefulness in a fast paced and changing work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including with law enforcement and other government officials.
- Sensitivity to working across cultures and build strong relationships with co-workers and flexibility with respect to taking calls with team members in other time zones.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Professional demeanor and ability to function in a highly confidential work environment.
PREFERRED:
- Experience working with third party monitoring tools such as Authentix or MarqVision.
- Experience working with third party e-billing, matter management and case tracking tools.
- Ability to understand and work with large sets of complex data.
- Flexibility and knowledge to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
