Clinical Research Budgets and Contracts Specialist
Support a portfolio of work, including:
- Negotiating clinical trial agreements.
- Negotiating Confidentiality Agreements (CDAs), master CDAs, or Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
- Negotiating vendor service agreements (VSAs) or Master Service Agreements (MSAs).
Work directly with the Vice President of Clinical Operations to understand and follow through on contractual aspects of clinical research, including preparing and reviewing contracts, implementing approval, filing, and compliance processes. Handle compensation procedures for select contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with creation, administration, and management of M3 Wake Research site contracts and budget activities.
- Negotiate and execute site budgets and contracts.
- Manage budget and contract amendments.
- Compile and maintain libraries of procedural costs for budget development and contract terms for negotiations.
- Accurately and timely track and report contract and proposal data.
- Submit final deliverables in a timely manner.
- Manage negotiation process, escalating issues or proposing solutions.
- Develop accurate and justifiable budgets using commercial, fiscal, and budgetary skills.
- Create payment terms that ensure cash neutrality and comply with company standards.
- Liaise with sponsors, CROs, business development, and study start-up teams.
- Collaborate with site clinical staff and internal finance to support billing and revenue recognition, interpreting contractual language and budgets.
- Collaborate with in-house legal department to ensure proper contract language.
- Comply with procurement, legal, and financial requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a business field or life science degree.
- 2+ years of experience in a CRO, pharma/biotech, site network outsourcing, or equivalent paralegal/legal contract role.
- Excellent analytical skills and advanced MS Excel proficiency.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, prioritization, and time management.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and multitask.
- Comfortable with financial calculations.
- Understanding of legal documents and finance budget documents.
