We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud FinOps Consultant to join Blue Mantis’ industry leading FinOps consulting practice. We help organizations optimize their cloud usage and costs, delivering significant business value through strategic FinOps practices. As a Cloud FinOps Consultant, you will play a key role in the delivery of FinOps services to our customers.
In addition to delivering services to customers, you will support in the planning, coordination, and execution of FinOps engagements.
You will influence the direction and strategy of Blue Mantis’ FinOps consulting practice by developing a deep understanding of common customer needs, keeping up to date on industry trends, and developing innovative strategies for maximizing cloud value.
The ideal candidate will be a FinOps expert with a proven track record of leading FinOps practices as a practitioner or providing top-tier FinOps consulting. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud financial management and the ability to deliver exceptional value to our clients through strategic planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Our CSP practice has experienced multiple years of double-digit growth. Central to our practice is an industry-leading FinOps offering that integrates Public Cloud and FinOps.org best practices to optimize our customers’ Public Cloud investments.
The Cloud FinOps Consultant is charged with leveraging prescriptive processes to ensure that our customer experience remains positive and that the practice is scalable and sustainable.
Their key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Client Engagement: Meet with clients to assess their FinOps maturity, identify areas for improvement, and develop comprehensive plans to enhance their FinOps practices. Support clients throughout the engagement and ensure their expectations are met. Work cross-functionally as needed in support of the customer.
- Value Delivery: Deliver industry leading FinOps services to clients. Identify and align business outcomes and objectives with client needs, ensuring that engagements deliver measurable value and exceed client expectations. Enable clients to mature their FinOps practice by providing ongoing guidance, best practices, and expertise.
- Technical Expertise: Apply deep technical knowledge of major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to optimize cloud usage and costs. Stay up to date on major changes to cloud provider offerings, FinOps Framework updates, and industry trends.
- Project Leadership: Independently lead and manage multiple complex FinOps projects for different clients simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and productive team environment. Support, guide, and delegate tasks to other consultants and customer stakeholders as necessary.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies that drive client satisfaction and business growth. Identify opportunities to maximize the value we can provide to clients. Refine our FinOps offerings to align to changes in industry best practices and client objectives.
- Service Development: Support in the creation of new services and improvements/addition to existing services. Design customer-facing presentations, deliverables, processes, etc., for existing and future engagements. Continuous improvement of all customer-facing content as the industry changes over time.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert on cloud billing & licensing models and capable of resolving complex customer requests or complaints. They will be expected to apply best practice processes/procedures associated with the finances of the Public Cloud, including tools, reporting and escalations to ensure delighted clients.
Proven experience in FinOps, with a strong background in leading FinOps practices or consulting.
Comprehensive FinOps knowledge, capable of supporting clients across all FinOps domains and capabilities at any maturity level.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
In-depth knowledge of one or more major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Experience with cloud native and third-party FinOps and cloud optimization tooling.
Strong business acumen and strategic thinking, with the ability to understand and prioritize client needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Able to build and deliver impactful presentations to clients.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple complex projects independently.
Creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial mindset.
FinOps Certified Practitioner (Required)
Cloud Provider Certifications: Possess or be willing to obtain AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals
