Full-Time Cloud Platform Engineer

Role We Need: PadSplit is growing rapidly, requiring a strong technical foundation for scaling. We seek a Cloud Platform Engineer to take ownership of cloud infrastructure, optimizing performance and ensuring secure, reliable backend systems. This role is crucial to enhancing our AWS environment, PostgreSQL databases, and DevOps workflows for affordable housing accessibility.

Person We Are Looking For: A hands-on engineer with deep expertise in AWS, PostgreSQL, and Python/Django is needed. Someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, making systems faster, more resilient, and scalable. Proactive, collaborative, and excited about shaping cloud architecture is essential. This role thrives in a fast-paced environment, working cross-functionally to drive significant impact.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure AWS infrastructure.
• Database Optimization: Manage AWS RDS (PostgreSQL) performance, indexing, and schema changes.
• Backend Development: Build and maintain backend services using Python and Django.
• CI/CD Automation: Implement and improve deployment pipelines (BitBucket repos).
• System Monitoring & Logging: Enhance observability using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Datadog, or Grafana.
• Security & Compliance: Strengthen IAM policies, data encryption, and VPC security best practices.
• Performance Tuning: Optimize application and query performance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, data, and product teams.

Skills Required:

• AWS Expertise: Strong experience with AWS services.
• Database Optimization: Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL.
• Backend Development: Experience in Python and Django.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or CircleCI.
• Monitoring & Security: Familiarity with CloudWatch, Prometheus, IAM policies, and encryption.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Scalability & Performance: Ability to optimize queries and system performance.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting.
• Collaboration: Ability to work cross-functionally.
