About Arbitrum FoundationThe Arbitrum Foundation is dedicated to scaling Ethereum through cutting-edge Layer 2 solutions. Our flagship product, Arbitrum One, an Optimistic Rollup, enables faster, more affordable transactions while maintaining Ethereum's security and decentralization. We empower developers to build decentralized applications (dApps) that are both scalable and secure, using Arbitrum chains, which offer flexibility in performance and cost. Our mission is to enhance the Ethereum ecosystem and drive the adoption of Web3 technology by delivering high-performance, open-source blockchain solutions. Arbitrum is already the leading Ethereum scaling solution with hundreds of dApps on the platform and over $13bn TVL.
Your RoleAs a Data Engineer, you'll play a foundational role in reshaping our data infrastructure while also delivering key insights to drive decision-making. You'll be responsible for setting up data pipelines, integrating multiple sources (on-chain & off-chain), and maintaining existing dashboards while creating new ones for our leadership and internal teams. This is a hybrid role, ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical challenge of data engineering and the business impact of analytics. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our data is accurate, accessible, and actionable.
Your Responsibilities
- Design & implement scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store data from multiple sources (blockchain data, Google Analytics, CRM, internal databases).
- Build & maintain a centralized data warehouse (BigQuery or similar) to unify structured and unstructured data.
- Develop & optimize SQL queries for data extraction and reporting.
- Create and maintain dashboards to visualize key metrics, helping teams make data-driven decisions.
- Ensure data accuracy & reliability by implementing validation and quality assurance processes.
- Automate data processes and improve efficiency through scripting (Python, SQL).
- Integrate Web3 analytics tools (e.g. Dune Analytics, Allium, Flipside, etc.) for blockchain data insights.
- Assess leads (e.g. grant proposals, product requirement documents, etc) from a technical and data standpoint, focusing on the technical team capabilities, architecture and source code and the timeline credibility.
What You'll Need
- Strong SQL skills (BigQuery, PostgreSQL, or similar).
- Experience with ETL tools (e.g. Airbyte, Fivetran, or other or custom-built solutions).
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
- Ability to work with a variety of APIs to extract and integrate data (e.g. Google Analytics, CRM, blockchain indexers).
- Understanding of blockchain data structures, and how to work with transaction data.
- A pragmatic mindset – you know when to build from scratch and when to use existing solutions.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Google Data Studio, Metabase).
- Ability to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of blockchain indexing (e.g. TheGraph, SubSquid, etc.) and smart contract transactions decoding.
- Hands-on experience with Dune Analytics, Allium or Nansen.
- Familiarity with data governance best practices.
