Your role in the Plotly story
Plotly is seeking a creative and technically skilled Developer Relations Content Creator to produce engaging short-form and medium-length videos that demonstrate the power and ease of getting started with Plotly’s open-source and closed-source app-building products. This role involves creating video content for YouTube, TikTok, and Bluesky that appeals to Excel, PowerBi, and broader data visualization communities.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Plotly and Dash, as well as a strong understanding of Excel and data visualization tools. The goal is to showcase the simplicity of using Plotly’s products and help viewers quickly build interactive data apps.

What you'll do

1. Content Production: Create 1-3 videos weekly:
• Short-Form Videos: 2 per week (max 60 seconds) for TikTok and repurposed for Bluesky, focusing on ease of use and quick tips.
• Medium-Length Videos: 1 per week (3-5 minutes) for YouTube, focusing on code walk-throughs, product demos, and guiding viewers on how to build data apps.

Content Focus: Create content on Plotly’s commercial product, Dash Enterprise, and open-source products (e.g., Plotly data visualization, Plotly Dash data app, Dash AG Grid). Highlight how these products and tools can be easily adopted by those familiar with Excel, Power BI, and other data visualization platforms. Emphasize the end-to-end simplicity of building data apps and visualizations with minimal friction.

Content Quality & Format: Ensure all videos maintain a high standard of audio and video quality (e.g., clear voiceovers, crisp video resolution). Incorporate compelling visuals, code snippets, and product demonstrations to engage and educate viewers. Suggest additional content ideas that align with the target audience’s interests and the company’s goals.

Collaboration & Communication: Work with Plotly’s Community Manager to ensure messaging consistency and high quality content. Receive content outlines and guidelines from Plotly’s Community Manager and develop them into polished videos. Offer creative input and improvements on storyboarding, presentation style, and demo workflows.

What you bring to the team

1. Technical Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Plotly, Dash, and Dash Enterprise is highly desirable. Working knowledge of Excel, including formula usage and data manipulation. Familiarity with PowerBi and Tableau is a plus.
2. Content Creation: Proven experience in video production, editing, and on-screen presentation (short-form and medium-length). Ability to distill complex technical concepts into accessible, concise explanations. Experience creating video content for social media platforms, particularly YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter.
3. Communication & Style: Excellent verbal and visual communication skills. Ability to engage viewers through a clear, approachable, and energetic presentation style. Knowledge of best practices in social media content optimization and audience engagement is a plus.
