District Systems Engineer, Commercial
A vital part of the sales team, serving as a trusted technical advisor to customers. Providing pre-sales technical support to commercial sales teams, aligning security solutions with customer needs and ensuring successful deployments that drive adoption and business value.
Work with customers to understand their security challenges, architect solutions, and demonstrate Palo Alto Networks' cybersecurity platform value.
Impact:
- Partner with sales teams to meet sales quotas by building and implementing technical account plans.
- Position, demonstrate, and design security architectures across the Palo Alto Networks portfolio based on customer needs, architecting complex environments (network security, security operations, cloud security).
- Drive customer adoption of the Palo Alto Networks security platform, helping customers achieve enhanced security, operational efficiency, and business flexibility.
- Conduct technical discovery to understand customer requirements and align solutions.
- Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) engagements, technical workshops, and product demonstrations.
- Collaborate with Professional Services, Customer Success, and Specialist teams.
- Effectively communicate complex security concepts to various stakeholders.
- Orchestrate supporting resources to drive a unified strategy for customer success.
- Promote end-to-end security solutions to maximize customer security posture and business value.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging security threats.
- Continuously invest in personal development and contribute to the District Systems Engineer community.
- Demonstrate diversity in technical knowledge (SOC, Cloud, Networking, NetSec).
- Become a technical leader, potentially growing into a Palo Alto Networks portfolio architect (expertise from NGFW to SASE, SOC, Cloud, Unit 42).
- Balance technical acumen with strategic thinking.
- Build and maintain strong relationships.
- Understand the competitive landscape deeply.
- Design and architect large, complex environments.
- Develop strong business acumen with potential to grow into CTO/CIO/CISO-level leadership.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Serve as a role model and mentor.
Experience:
- 6+ years in pre-sales, sales engineering, or similar technical role
- Strong understanding of data networking, security architectures, and modern cloud computing.
- Experience delivering cybersecurity solutions aligning with customer business initiatives.
- Ability to influence key stakeholders.
- Strong technical presentation, workshop, and proof-of-concept delivery skills.
- Expertise in security solutions (Network Security, SASE, SaaS, CNAPP, SOC).
- Experience collaborating with Customer Support.
- Background in complex sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers and multi-product solutions.
- Field sales position requiring in-person customer engagements.

Closely work with customers to secure digital environments, educate, inspire, and empower organizations.
Supported by industry-leading tools, systems, and a team.
Compensation:
Depending on qualifications, experience, and work location. Base salary + commission target between $198,000/YR - $273,000/YR.
Also includes restricted stock units and a bonus.
