SGS helps improve food safety, enhance quality, support sustainable development, improve margins, and protect brands. SGS auditors have the industry and business expertise to perform food audits against chosen criteria and code of practice.
As a Food Safety Auditor, you will:
- Perform third-party audits per SGS Certification procedures and requirements of one or more applicable standards (i.e. FSSC22000, SQF, BRC).
- Collect and analyze sufficient information to provide a recommendation for certification.
- Perform certification audits in conformance with SGS Global/Local procedures, sector-specific schemes/standards.
- Ensure efficient and commercially expedient performance of duties.
- Determine whether registration should be recommended or allowed to continue, based on audit evidence.
- Operate the SGS Certification System in all auditing activities.
- Collaborate with teams of Auditors during auditing activities.
- Provide customers with sufficient audit experience to cover all accredited activities.
- Assist in training of other Auditors and Senior Auditors.
- Actively participate in witness audits.
- Maintain audit-related credentials.
- Undertake other activities as directed.
- Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in food science or bio science required.
- 5+ years' work experience, qualified as Lead Auditor to FSSC, BRC, and/or SQF.
- Minimum 5 years proven management function in food industry.
- Minimum 2 years experience in quality assurance or food safety management system coordination.
Travel:
- Travels up to 80% of the time (automobile/airplane).
- Some international travel with flight time of 8+ hours possible.
- Weekend travel may be required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong background and knowledge of technical applications of the standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, presentation).
- Proactive attitude and excellent organizational skills.
- Effectively reacts in stressful situations and makes clear, well-founded decisions.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects.
- Acts with integrity, tact, and character.
Language Skills: Highest advanced level of English.
Mathematical Skills: Basic level.
Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Basic level.
Salary: $72,000 - $96,000/yr
