AECOM is seeking a Geologist I to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects in accordance with CERCLA, RCRA, NCDES and NCDEQ programs and other regulatory agencies.
The selected candidate will conduct field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, and related work. The candidate may also provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintain AECOM documentation.
The individual will serve as a team member in the office and field, assisting project management with design and implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
- Conducting environmental fieldwork, including water level measurements and collection of soil, groundwater, soil gas, surface water, and pore water samples, in addition to field parameters.
- Recording remediation system data, soil logging, and oversight of field surveys, well installation oversight, well development, and utility clearance.
- Field document preparation, field data collection, processing, and interpretation.
- Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
- Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Travel to project locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Geology or related field + 0 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License and pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Obtain and maintain medical clearance for driving and wearing a respirator.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.
- Ability to travel up to 60-80% for fieldwork, including out-of-state travel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1+ years experience performing site investigations.
- Experience with soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations.
- Experience with various drilling techniques (DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud-rotary, etc.).
- Analytical data interpretation and reporting.
- Experience working in NCDEQ Programs.
- Current OSHA 40-hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training.
- Technical skills including Database, GIS, CAD, visualization software skills.
- Proficient computer skills: Word, Excel, ArcGIS, EQuIS.
- Excellent oral or written communication skills.
