Full-Time Infrastructure Software Engineer

Role Description As an Infrastructure Engineer, your role will be crucial in shaping and constructing the robust systems that support current products and lay the groundwork for future engineering innovations. You'll optimize user experiences, ensure scalability and data integrity, and shape the platform's technological backbone.

Responsibilities

• Build infrastructure managing metadata for billions of files, handling petabytes of data, and facilitating millions of concurrent connections.
• Lead expansion of Dropbox's data-fabric connecting millions of applications, devices, and services, enhancing interoperability and adaptability.
• Measure and optimize Dropbox's analytics platform, maintaining its industry-leading status for extracting insights from vast data volumes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve performance, reliability, and security.
• Mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends to maintain a competitive edge.
• Participate in on-call rotations.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Proven track record constructing and managing expansive, multi-threaded, geographically dispersed backend systems
• Proficient in programming and debugging across languages (Python, Go, C/C++, Java)
• Proficiency with OS internals, filesystems, databases, networks, and compilers
• Proven ability to define and deliver well-scoped projects
• Ability to independently define solutions for open-ended problems

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Semaphores and Mutexes
