Overall Purpose
As a Junior Quality Assurance Analyst, you will be part of the Tasman Change Team, supporting the quality and performance of software through structured testing activities. You will work under the guidance of more experienced team members, collaborating closely with developers and Business Analysts to ensure solutions meet the desired requirements.
What will you be doing?
- Reviewing business requirements with guidance and assisting in writing test cases
- Supporting the creation of test plans under supervision
- Executing test cases and reporting outcomes
- Carrying out routine inspections and supporting quality checks
- Assisting in identifying workflow or production issues and escalating appropriately
- Helping to ensure standards and safety regulations are followed
- Reporting issues and suggestions to senior team members
- Documenting test activities and maintaining testing records
- Supporting improvements to quality processes
- Assisting in maintaining training materials and documentation
Expertise
- 0–2 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance
- Basic understanding of software development and QA concepts
- An interest in financial services or experience in a similar regulated environment is a plus
- Some exposure to testing or academic experience with test planning/execution
- Good communication and willingness to learn
- Familiarity with manual testing; any exposure to automation tools is a bonus (e.g., Selenium)
- An understanding of Agile methodologies is beneficial
- Eagerness to build skills in working with data and databases
The Junior QA will support testing efforts on systems that may have complex logic and interdependencies. While not expected to lead design or architectural discussions, the role requires curiosity and attention to detail to understand how components interact.
Junior QAs will attend team meetings and participate in Agile ceremonies. They will be supported by more senior team members and encouraged to contribute ideas and raise concerns. Communication skills and a willingness to learn from feedback will be key.
The Junior QA will work under the mentorship of senior QA staff and developers. While expected to take initiative, tasks will typically be assigned and reviewed. Guidance and training will be provided to help build skills progressively.
