Full-Time Network Engineer

Engineers on the Region Networking NRE team will support the deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Primarily focused on the support of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with programming skills. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure, clos network, and the Internet.

Responsibilities:

Support the deployment and operations of a large-scale global cloud infrastructure network.
Utilize a deep understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with programming skills to manage network fabric and systems.
Develop and execute network changes using existing procedures and tools, with the occasional need to create new procedures.
Collaborate with network development engineers to provide break-fix support for events.
Automate routine tasks for team and business units through script development.
Coordinate with networking automation services for the development and integration of support tooling.
Work with network monitoring to gather telemetry and create alerts rules.
Build dashboards to represent data at various network layers and device roles to help identify network issues and anomalies.
Collaborate with network vendor technical account team and internal qualification and test team to drive bug resolution and assist in the qualification of new firmware and/or operating systems.
Collaborate with program/project managers to develop milestones and deliverables.

Requirements

Proficiency in operations and procedures relating to networking and server management.
Experience in supervising and executing tasks within set timeframes.
Expertise in workstation support and internet networking.
Solid understanding of automation in relation to networking.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
Familiarity with cloud technologies and their application in networking.
Ability to create and manage dashboards for business units.
Excellent written communication skills.
Familiarity with scaling out network operations and tracking milestones.
In-depth knowledge of DNS and DHCP protocols.
Experience with operating systems and their interaction with networks.
Ability to deliver and manage deliverables in a timely manner.
Experience with server deployments in a network setting.
