Contractor Remote Accounting Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle monthly bookkeeping and financial reporting
• Manage transactions across multiple currencies (NOK, EUR, USD)
• Prepare annual tax returns and financial statements
• Reconcile accounts across multiple payment platforms (PayPal, AdSense, etc.)
• Process approximately 100-150 transactions annually
• Work with Wave accounting software
• Provide tax compliance guidance for both Norwegian and international operations
• Perform bookkeeping tasks, including proper recording of expenses and income
• Assist with tax-related tasks and ensure compliance with Norwegian regulations
• Collaborate with team members using online communication tools
• Provide support for financial analysis and reporting to aid decision-making
• Maintain organized digital files and ensure data accuracy across all financial records
• Adapt to new accounting software and technologies as needed
• Support the finance team in preparing budgets and forecasts
• Assist in developing and implementing financial policies and procedures

Scope of Work:

• Part-time position (5-10 hours monthly)
• Regular monthly reconciliations
• Annual tax preparation
• Quarterly reviews and reporting

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience with e-learning or digital service businesses
• Knowledge of international tax implications
• Track record of reliable, long-term client relationships
• Strong digital communication skills

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, with professional accounting qualification
• Experience with Norwegian tax regulations and reporting requirements
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of Norwegian is a plus
• Experience with digital businesses, international transactions, and multi-currency accounting
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Wave, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office suite
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and Norwegian accounting standards
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting
• Adaptability to new technologies and processes

Vetting Process:

• Set up weekly check-ins for the first month
• Create a clear communication schedule

• Set up a backup accountant to avoid single point of failure
• Must have experience with Norwegian digital businesses
• Proven track record with Wave accounting software
• Available for regular video calls
• Must provide a backup contact person
• Clear response time expectations (24-48 hours max)
