The Research Analyst at CAPA – Centre for Aviation is dedicated to delivering timely and comprehensive commercial aviation news for members. You'll identify breaking news, research and write concise articles, expand news coverage, and contribute to multiple platforms (website, email alerts).
You'll collaborate closely with the team to ensure industry-leading news coverage, improve processes, and maintain high editorial standards.
Role Accountability and Duties:
- Research & News Gathering: Conduct thorough, time-sensitive searches for aviation news from various sources (press releases, social media, news websites). Maintain and expand a list of relevant news sources, assessing their quality and reliability. Maintain/expand a database of official press release websites and direct news sources. Collaborate with the team to ensure all research tasks are completed on schedule.
- News Brief Writing: Compose concise, accurate news briefs for publication on the CAPA website and distribution in email alerts. Meet KPIs for news output and quality standards. Incorporate feedback to uphold CAPA's quality guidelines.
- Insight Article Writing: After training and gaining industry knowledge, contribute to the Insight product by researching and writing longer articles for publication and email alerts. Meet KPIs for Insight article output and quality.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Share relevant news with other CAPA teams to update databases, company profiles, other publications, social media, and research for events, marketing, and sales. Respond to research queries to support data product development and deepen industry knowledge.
- News Coverage at Events: After training, potentially attend CAPA Summits and other events to provide news brief coverage. Support the hosting of CAPA Summits and assist with the event as required.
- Continuous Improvement: Offer feedback to improve workflows, systems, and overall product quality. Stay informed on aviation trends to maintain a well-rounded perspective for news coverage.
Education & Experience
- Graduate-level qualification (ideally in aviation, tourism, international relations, professional writing, or a related field) is advantageous.
- Previous experience in aviation or tourism is advantageous.
- Proficiency in languages other than English is advantageous.
