We're seeking an Audience Insights Research Manager to build and lead a team of researchers. Reporting to the VP, Media, you'll collaborate closely with editorial, product, and strategy teams to create market-leading research reports.
Your Mission: Develop and manage a research program producing original data, deep insights, and compelling storytelling.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the research function, establishing a structured framework.
- Deliver high-impact reports (market research, benchmarking, competitive intelligence).
- Turn data into strategy, shaping editorial direction and go-to-market plans.
- Ensure research is actionable and usable, designing taxonomies and metadata.
- Scale research operations, implementing tools and best practices.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and track competitive dynamics.
- Engage with thought leaders to gain real-world perspectives.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing team of analysts.
- Provide training and tools to empower other teams.
- Experiment with insight delivery (e.g., interactive dashboards).
How Success is Measured:
- Audience & Business Impact: How research influences decisions and content engagement.
- Cadence of Delivery: Volume of surveys, interviews, and reports.
- Data Usability: Effectiveness of research structuring and utilization.
- Industry Influence: Reports' trustworthiness for SaaS executives.
- Team Growth & Development: Research team performance and strategic maturity.
Skills Required:
- 5+ years market research/business intelligence experience (ideally in SaaS).
- Strong data-to-insight conversion abilities.
- Experience leading a research team.
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Strong storytelling skills and communication (written/verbal).
- Collaboration across teams (content, product, strategy).
Nice to Haves:
- SaaS industry research experience.
- Tools like Tableau, Power BI, or SQL.
- Background in journalism, content strategy, or editorial research.
- Presenting insights to executive leadership.
- Familiarity with SEO and audience research.
