The Science & Social Media Manager will support the Group Corporate Communications Team in developing and implementing a high-impact science communications strategy, ensuring LGC's science stories and reputation are well-represented.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing LGC's science communications strategy aligned with the Group's purpose.
- Identifying, developing, and sharing brilliant science stories on internal and external channels.
- Managing content creation, calendar planning, and content production for consistency and quality.
- Supporting scientists at events and conferences, including presentation development and media engagement.
- Managing communications around M&A activity.
- Serving as a key contact for issues and crisis management.
- Using data and analytics to evaluate communication strategies.
- Identifying and creating engaging communications campaigns.
- Engaging with key science, industry, and financial media.
- Providing communications support for senior science colleagues.
- Ensuring LGC's communications policies are followed.
- Maintaining proactive social and media monitoring.
- Proven experience in science writing, communication/media planning, and content development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information accessibly.
- Developing and implementing communication plans, digital content strategies, and social media campaigns.
- Experience in issues management/crisis communications.
- Degree in communications, PR, journalism, life sciences, or related fields.
- Experience advising senior leaders.
- Proficient in PowerPoint and content management systems.
- Budget and supplier management.
- Proactive in managing content calendars.

Compensation: $80,000 - $135,000 (Maryland-based)
