Olsson’s South Facilities Engineering and Design Team is growing, and we’re looking for a Security Systems Designer to support data center projects.
This role focuses on designing and integrating security systems to protect mission-critical infrastructure, ensuring seamless access control, incursion detection, and surveillance solutions.
You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and clients to develop state-of-the-art security systems, leveraging the latest in physical security technology to meet the high standards of data center protection.
- Design physical layer security systems for data centers, including access control, intrusion detection, surveillance, and monitoring systems.
- Develop detailed layouts for security infrastructure, coordinating with telecommunications and facility teams.
- Utilize BIM/CAD tools (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) to produce high-precision security system models.
- Ensure compliance with industry security (ASIS) standards.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to integrate security systems with telecommunications and building automation.
- Conduct site visits and risk assessments to support system implementation and project success.
- Stay up to date on emerging security technologies and best practices for high-security environments.
You bring to the team:
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to contribute and work well on a team
- 8+ years of experience in security system design for data centers, critical infrastructure, or commercial facilities.
- Knowledge of access control, intrusion detection, and surveillance systems.
- Familiarity with ASIS and other industry security standards (PSP certification is a plus).
- Experience in CAD/BIM software (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks).
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Ability to interact with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
