To properly account for international operations, we seek an experienced Senior Advisor, Global Tax to manage Group tax aspects and processes. Reporting to the Manager, Global Tax and Compliance, responsibilities include evaluating and managing global tax exposures and compliance needs.
Your Contribution:
- Evaluate and recommend tax implications of treasury initiatives (e.g., repatriation, intercompany loans, cash management).
- Review and update transfer pricing policies/documentation based on business developments and coordinate monthly processes.
- Identify and implement strategies to lower Group tax costs, including evaluating Group structure.
- Advise global pre-sales and invoicing teams on sales tax/withholding tax impacts on new contracts.
- Maintain/review Group tax positions related to sales tax, corporate tax, and R&D Investment credits.
- Coordinate R&D Credit documentation with external consultants and engineering.
- Review/implement improvements to Group tax internal processes.
- Update internal documentation and provide training to relevant teams on tax law changes.
- Coordinate tax aspects of M&A transactions.
- Prepare/coordinate tax compliance reporting (Canada & USA) for sales tax, corporate tax, and R&D Credit, and supporting documentation for external consultants.
- Prepare tax information for annual consolidated financial statements.
- Coordinate/review monthly consolidated global tax provision.
- Maintain/update documentation for tax attributes (share basis, adjusted cost base, foreign affiliate surplus, earnings/profits).
- Respond to tax audits as they arise.
- Oversee estimated tax payments/instalments (US & Canada) and coordinate global cash tax forecast.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- US or Canadian CPA designation.
- MBT, JD, or CPA Canada In-Depth completion an asset.
- 8+ years corporate tax experience in a multinational, multicurrency company.
- Experience with international areas (e.g., US outbound taxation, Canadian outbound taxation, transfer pricing).
- Adaptability to foreign statutory/governmental requirements.
- Experience managing tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently, especially non-routine projects.
- Proficient with tax research and Excel.
- Strong communication skills (explaining complex tax concepts).
- Fluency in English; French fluency an asset.
- Experience with ERP (e.g., D365) is an asset.
