Full-Time Senior Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid with UK travel | Sector: Defence & Infrastructure | Clearance: SC Required

Are you a technically sharp, consultative data engineer ready to work on mission-critical infrastructure? We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to support a major UK Nuclear Defence Infrastructure client, helping to revolutionize how data—especially BIM (Building Information Modelling)—is harnessed across the asset and project lifecycle.

Your future team:In this specialist role, you’ll join a high-performing team focused on transforming complex engineering datasets into actionable insights. You’ll design and deliver robust data solutions that support decision-making, asset management, and regulatory compliance in a highly secure, regulated environment.

Your missions:

1. Designing and building scalable ETL pipelines to integrate BIM and infrastructure data from diverse systems.
2. Structuring and enriching complex datasets for reporting, insight, and operational use.
3. Developing data models and maintaining databases that underpin asset and lifecycle intelligence.
4. Enabling data storytelling through Power BI dashboards and the Microsoft Power Platform.
5. Collaborating with engineers, BIM coordinators, and asset managers to define high-impact data use cases.
6. Diagnosing data quality issues and integration gaps—and implementing practical fixes.
7. Acting as a subject matter expert on BIM data transformation in regulated environments.

Essential qualifications/skills to be successful:

• Active SC Clearance (or eligibility and willingness to obtain).
• Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer, ideally within BIM, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
• Advanced proficiency in:
• MS SQL – for database development and optimization
• Power BI – dashboards, DAX, data visualization
• Python – data workflows, automation, transformation
• IBM Cognos – enterprise reporting support

Desirable qualifications/skills to be successful:

• Experience with Azure or similar cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of industry data standards (e.g., IFC, COBie, BS EN ISO 19650).
• Familiarity with the engineering asset lifecycle—from design to maintenance.
• Experience leading or guiding modern data warehouse implementations.

This role requires the successful candidate to hold (or be able to obtain) a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a sole UK national
