Full-Time Senior Database Architect

As a Database Architect, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, securing, and maintaining our database schema and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, design, architecture, performance optimization, security, and cloud database technologies. Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and optimize database schema and performance, ensuring high security, availability, and scalability.
2. Implement and enforce database security and integrity best practices, access controls, and compliance policies (GDPR, PCI-DSS).
3. Develop, test, and maintain backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
4. Set up and manage database monitoring tools, proactively addressing performance bottlenecks.
5. Proactively analyze and optimize queries to enhance performance.
6. Research, plan, and execute cloud database migrations (Amazon RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
7. Develop automation scripts for database maintenance, monitoring, and infrastructure provisioning.
8. Collaborate with engineering teams to design scalable, efficient, and well-structured databases.
9. Guide and support the development of data pipelines and ETL processes.
10. Work with developers, DevOps engineers, and product teams to align database strategies with business needs.

Requirements:

• 7-9 years of database administration experience in a SaaS environment.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• MariaDB/MySQL on Amazon RDS and/or Google Cloud SQL, and ElasticSearch.
• Deep understanding and application of database security best practices, encryption, access control, and compliance requirements.
• Experience implementing reliable backup, restore, and disaster recovery.
• Proven track record of optimizing complex queries, indexing strategies, and caching mechanisms.
• Ability to assist in the design of scalable and efficient database schemas.
• Experience in establishing database monitoring tools and processes.
• Experience in automation and infrastructure scripting (Python, Bash, Terraform).
• Experience supporting or working with data pipeline architectures.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
