Full-Time Senior Market & Operations Analyst - Western Region

Join us at Customized Energy Solutions (CES) as we help clients navigate the disruption in the electric industry and help move the industry forward. We are looking for a dynamic individual to support our Future-Grid and Wholesale Market Operations teams in the West Region, primarily focusing on the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) region.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee generation scheduling, optimization, and reporting for wholesale clients using our proprietary resource scheduling software.
2. Craft analytical reports to evaluate performance metrics related to load, price, renewables, and other forecasts.
3. Collaborate with internal IT and analytics teams to bolster CES's asset optimization capabilities.
4. Spearhead the creation of settlement reports, monitoring tools, and efficiency-enhancing strategies for the CAISO market.
5. Represent CES in relevant industry forums, primarily CAISO stakeholder meeting, foster relationships with key stakeholders and CAISO staff, and provide business development support.
6. Serve as the primary Client Relations contact for the California region.
7. Negotiate and adapt project proposals to cater to client-specific needs.
8. Analyze settlements, file disputes, and pinpoint invoice discrepancies.
9. Innovate and refine energy resource assessment tools and related analytics.
10. Advise clients on wholesale market trends, regulatory changes, and other pertinent issues impacting the resource they have under management with CES.
11. Collaborate cross-functionally within CES to ensure outstanding customer service and comprehensive client solutions.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience with organized power markets and in-depth understanding of the CAISO wholesale market, settlement rules, and California's energy policies.
• Proficiency in energy storage concepts, including market participation rules and operational nuances of grid-level and behind-the-meter storage.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, or sciences. Alternatively, demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills.
• Proactive, able to work independently and collaborate with remote teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience in SQL and/or Python is a plus.
