AECOM has a position opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our growing power generation business within our Energy Engineering Center of Excellence.
AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.
Our nationwide team provides a wide range of mechanical engineering services across markets sectors.
- Oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream refining)
- Industrial processes (chemical, petrochemical, food and beverage)
- Carbon capture and storage
- Transmission pipelines
- Mining/bulk material handling
- Future and renewable fuels (such as hydrogen, renewable natural gas, biogas, green ammonia)
We are looking for a strong candidate with a power engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base.
Qualified candidates will have a strong background in thermal power engineering coupled with project leadership experience.
The successful candidate will have a high level of understanding and experience in mechanical engineering design and technology principles for process/mechanical and generation projects.
Responsibilities Include:
- Mechanical engineering design work on assigned projects
- Function as the "Engineer of Record" on projects
- Serve as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsible charge of mechanical deliverables
- Collaborate with Chief Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Director
- Mentorship of other engineers
- Supporting the Chief Mechanical engineer on workload forecasts, design schedules and budgets
- Supporting global business development activities
- Coordination with the mechanical piping design team
- Multi-discipline collaboration
- Technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence
- Generate applicable mechanical engineering deliverables to support all phases of scope development
- Develop construction and equipment specifications
- Support projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
- Quality control reviews
- Project and client meetings
- Interaction with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors
- Internal and external presentations
- Occasional travel to client and/or project sites
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or related field
- 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering for power generation facilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- 12+ years of experience preferred
- 5+ yrs experience as project technical mechanical lead/mechanical engineer of record
- Simple and Combined Cycle Plant Design
- Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards
- Expert experience with specifying mechanical equipment
- Familiarity with diverse metallurgy
- Startup and Commissioning Field Experience
- Strong experience with engineering software packages (Caesar II, Pipe-Flo, AspenTech, Applied Flow Technology)
- Experience executing work in 3D model environments
- Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, BIM 360)
- Strong experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets
- Demonstrated experience in participating complex, multi-discipline programs/projects
- Successful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams
