SummaryThe Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Senior Movement Communications Specialist to collaborate with product and technology teams on community engagement. The Movement Communications team fosters connections and understanding within the Wikimedia movement.
Responsibilities
- Develop agile communication strategies for product and technology activities.
- Strengthen connections with volunteer editors through effective, multilingual communications.
- Collaborate with product teams to understand project plans, challenges, and timelines. Maintain FAQs, templates, and other resources to address common questions.
- Monitor community channels for updates and proactively address community concerns.
- Facilitate productive dialogues between communities and product teams, enabling effective feedback integration and resolution of concerns.
- Promote equity and inclusivity in communications strategies.
- Communicate the Foundation's work to build trust and align with values.
- Contribute to best practices within the Movement Communications team.
- Support the team with occasional assignments as needed.
Skills and Experience
- Strong written English and fluency in at least one other language.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, proactive, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Wikimedia community dynamics and channels.
- Experience in the product development lifecycle.
- Comfort facilitating discussions with volunteers in various formats and cultures.
- Proven experience implementing successful agile communication strategies.
- Emotional maturity, self-reliance, ability to tolerate ambiguity, and maintain positive relationships.
- Experience working in remote and intercultural teams.
Desired Skills
- Experience with advanced Wikimedia user rights
- Experience using MediaWiki software and related tools.
- Personal interest and volunteer involvement in Wikimedia communities.
