Full-Time Senior Quality Engineer - Manila

Senior Quality Engineer reports directly to the Software QA Manager.

Plays a crucial role in supporting and contributing to the design, implementation, and enhancement of test automation frameworks and strategies.

Collaborates on high-level automation initiatives and performs hands-on responsibilities:

• Developing automated test scripts
• Executing test cases
• Maintaining automation environments
• Ensuring test coverage aligns with business requirements

Ensures that automation testing aligns with best practices, integrates smoothly into the software development lifecycle, and contributes to high-quality software delivery.

Reports on a flexible night shift schedule (8PM to 5AM PHT) and is eligible for night differential pay.

Responsibilities:

1. Implementation of tools, standards, and best practices
2. Closely works with Test Architects to design, implement, and enhance automation frameworks
3. Defines and maintains coding standards and best practices for test automation process
4. Establishes and enforces test automation guidelines for efficient and scalable testing
5. Automation environment maintenance: Maintains and oversees the status of test environments along with their test data. Ensures functionality and meets test automation needs.
6. Test Case Automation: Designs, develops, and maintains automated test scripts using standard automation tools. Conducts code reviews on teammates' pull requests. Integrates test automation scripts into the CI/CD pipeline to enable continuous testing. Plans and manages automated test suites for regression, functional, and integration testing.
7. Software Quality Assurance: Collaborates with teammates to establish internal processes and best practices. Proposes and implements process improvements for the QA and project teams. Allocates work, estimation, and script development within the automation team. Stays updated with new testing tools and test strategies.
8. Cross-functional Agile Collaboration: Participates in agile ceremonies, provides input and feedback. Attends production or live deployments, monitors deployment status after performing sanity testing. Creates user documentation for configurable components.
9. Collaborates remotely with cross-functional teams (US, PH, MX, IN) to ensure high-quality software delivery. Collaborates with the development team to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline. Provides training for manual test engineers on automation tools and processes.
10. Software Test Life Cycle Management: Executes test cases and scripts, including thorough regression tests, white/black box testing, and manual execution of end-to-end scenarios. Assesses scope of testing and creates test suites in Zephyr for JIRA. Prepares an execution plan and tracks progress. Ensures test execution completes on time. Reviews and collates test cycle metrics, investigates and debugs test failures, and collaborates with development to resolve issues promptly.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience as a Test Automation Engineer or similar role
• Experience with test automation tools (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, etc.)
• Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, design patterns, processes, and best practices
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools, performance testing, and security testing
• Must be able to work a flexible night shift schedule (typically 8pm-4am PHT)

Location: Work-from-home position in Manila, Philippines.

Additional Requirements: Must be open to face-to-face gatherings, have a backup laptop, and a reliable high-speed internet connection.
