Full-Time SQL Data Administrator II - NBC Sports

SQL Database Administrator II participates in the design, development, implementation, review, and monitoring of all database environments. Collaborates with development, data engineering, and QA teams to provide necessary resources, best practices, and support.

Responsibilities:

1. Design, implement, maintain, and monitor database servers (Production, QA, Development).
2. Ensure High Availability and meet SLAs for systems.
3. Design and implement monitoring solutions.
4. Review and audit environments for security best practices.
5. Assist in T-SQL development (check-in, review, build, testing, deployment), and SQL CI/CD lifecycle support.
6. Guide developers on best practices for writing queries/procedures.
7. Identify and resolve system performance bottlenecks.
8. Assist with system capacity planning.
9. Create and implement new environments based on business needs.
10. Design and implement data systems integration.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience.
• Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, T-SQL, PowerShell, and coding best practices.
• Knowledge of MySQL & Postgres preferred.
• Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud services (RDS, EC2).
• Experience using source control (GitHub) for database scripts and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Understanding of SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery (availability groups, backups, restores, FCI, log shipping, mirroring, replication).
• Strong SQL Server administration skills (backups, restores, snapshots, user/role security, access permissions).
• Understanding of SQL Server concurrency, transactions, and locking.
• Experience with SQL Server debugging and tracing.
• Experience with full-text search and XML in SQL Server.
• Experience in SQL performance analysis and optimization.
• Associate's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience using Atlassian Jira & Confluence.
